Gandhi The Nonviolent
Mahatma Gandhi, born on October 2nd 1869 was a leader of Indian nationalism. Gandhi used nonviolent civil disobediance methods. Mahatma was born and raised in Hindu. Gandhi trained in law at the Immer Temple im London. His first act of civil non violence was as a lawyer in South Africa.
Gandhi married at the age of 13 amd had first child at the age of 15. Gandhi was assassinated at the Birlia House. Nathuram Godse was the assassin shooting 3 bullets to the chest. Gandhi's last words were beleived to be "Hē Ram." It roughly translates to "Oh God."
Gandhi's philosiphy was to bring freedom to India. Gandhi wanted to free India from British rule. He influinced many to use nonviolent methods to free India. Britain was there in India for profit so he thought why be here when you dont buy anything? Eventualy the British left. Gandhi suceeded in hia goals to free India. By Hindu tradition, Gandhi's ashes were spread through a river. Gandhi favored the emancipation of women. Some women even looked up to Gandhi as "one of them."
Gandhi led Indians against the British with a 250 mile Dandi Salt March in 1930. He later called the British to Quit India in 1942. Ganshi went to jail many times in India and South Africa. Gandhi lived in a residential community wearing traditional dhoti and shaw. In April of 1918 Gandhi was invited to war conference for World War I.
